چکیده
Previous studies have demonstrated how augmented feedback can accelerate motor learning. Still, specific features of complexity and intermittency influence learning a challenging, force-driven task remains largely unknown. This study is an initial investigation variations in the visual guidance affect performance isometric muscle control with computerized platform. novel platform has been developed to rehabilitate upper-extremity function after neuromuscular dysfunction (e.g., spinal cord injury, stroke) while utilizing: 1) position-adjustable arm brace for gravity support; 2) myoelectric command interface; 3) virtual reality (VR) training. Results from this elucidate new principles suggest may be leveraged designing VR rehabilitation programs, which are highly flexible customizable individual users. that simpler more intermittent typically resulted better (i.e., shorter motion pathlengths). Supplementary results suggested these modes also reduced cognitive loading alpha/beta band magnitudes electroencephalography) but increased physical arousal higher skin conductance). In sum, indicates complex, tasks, must presented selectively gains performance. suggests simple avoids cognitively overwhelming user encouraging engagement supports

متن کاملVirtual reality system for upper extremity rehabilitation of chronic stroke patients living in the community
For stroke patients with residual motor impairment, access to sufficient rehabilitation after discharge is often difficult to achieve due to cost, distance and availability of rehabilitative services. Virtual Reality (VR) rehabilitation is a promising method for maximizing the intensity and convenience of task specific rehabilitation training. However, many of the systems that have been develop...
